Kody Bootsman is currently residing in Oak Bay on Vancouver Island in BC, she is but a mere 5-minute walk to the ocean from her apartment. An apartment in a 1940’s building, with plaster walls, mismatched doors knobs, skylights and a clawfoot tub. It is a quiet older neighbourhood with pockets of little commercial centers including places like Pure Vanilla Bakery and the Village (one of the best of many great breakfast places there).
You feel inspired by Kody when you’re with her, she has a genuine happy feeling about her that draws you in. Self described as witty, peaceful, genuine, observant, and vibrant; you are sure to crave more time with her the instant she leaves the room.
She believes life is to be experienced, the good and the bad. To fully enjoy life and not to slide into apathy and routine. Kody started with the photo jewelry to make photography something to be worn and enjoyed. She knows photos can capture something complex and fleeting, a moment in time or a memory, “old slides make up some of my favorite pieces.” But she says photos can also capture less sophisticated beauty in our world like light, shapes and colours.
Welded Hanger wanted to know what Kody’s favourite piece of clothing was in her closet and after some thought she knew, “I am torn between the softest, perfectly fitting long sleeve black shirt, and the polka dot red sundress.”
